NaMax has played a leading role in the creation of strategies for implementation of the euro in a range of contexts. From governments and the European Commission to investment and retail banking, Namax has assisted in the determination of the likely impact of the currency and made recommendations for how organisations can prepare with least cost and risk.

In 1997, Charles Brewer of Namax was invited to join a HM treasury working party on the impact of the currency in the finance sector, and in December that year gave a paper at 11 Downing Street setting out the likely effect whether the UK was in or out. he was subsequently appointed to the European Commission's GroupEuro and has given around 100 presentations on the subject on matters as diverse as the effect on the derivatives market to advising retailers that supermarkets can take practical steps for as little as a few pounds (or euros).

He has written extensively on the subject in a range of journals and publications, and is regularly quoted in the press. For two years, he supplied a regular column to Reed Business International's online iTelligence magazine and was a member of the editorial board of EMU - The Journal for Business.

Some of his articles are to be found here.

EMU is not a completed subject, but it is becoming clear that many of the views expressed early on by NaMax - namely that the cost estimates being flowated in some quarters were wildly too large - are now being found to be accurate.

NaMax has run many courses on practical implications of EMU and the euro for groups as diverse as the Swedish civil service and asset managers, and has regularly run public courses.
