In April, NaMax Limited had another success in a case involving allegations of conspiracy and fraud. Computer evidence had been raised and we demonstrated that it could not be relied upon.
NaMax undertook extensive investigation of evidence due for presentation and determined that there were many aspects of the system in question, its design and maintenance, and the manner in which records had been kept which led to grave doubts about the validity of the information being presented.
Specifically, the reports on which the evidence was based had been produced from a system whose internal design and database had been radically changed. There was no evidence to demonstrate that the changes had been made in a proper manner, nor that data records had been successfully migrated between the different versions of the database.
The evidence was withdrawn before the trial started.
